Lot 322 The knife from a million childhoods. At one time in the 1980's every kid in America had to own one of these knives. The were inexpensive, but held with them the wonders of childhood and adventure--and marks one of the few instances in modern times when it was generally accepted a kid could buy, own, and wear a knife in public. (Alas, times do fade away). The round compass, the survival gear in the hollow handle, the whetstone in the sheath, the bottle opener in the blade--all a young man needed for adventure. But as things happen with cheap throwaway items, the survivability is low. This knife is featured in a column about its importance to the knife world today in an upcoming issue of "Knife Magazine." I have looked for one of these knives for a long time to illustrate the column, and this is the first one that has turned up in a consigment in years. Think of the last time you saw one of these relics of so many childhoods. So this is a unique moment to own a piece of memory, a relic of bygone days--and in mint condition. the 11" knife has a 5 1/2" blade, a cheap plastic sheath. "Marked 420 Satinless, Taiwan" (x4097-cho) Minimum bid $10.00
