Dowell (TMD) handmade funny folder, micarta handles, with a TMD marked leather belt sheath. 4 3/8" closed, 7 5/8" open, Sheeth has been banged around a little, knife is Mint except for some light storage scratches. Ted Dowell was a President of the Knifemakers' Guild and an early legend and mentioned in any outdoor magazine discussing handmade knives in the early days. Lot 17 G. W. Stone wood handled handmade slip lock folder, nickel silver dovetailed bolsters, 3 3/4" closed, 6 1/2" open. Early Stones were crude by modern standards and always hard to tell if they are mint or have been cleaned. In those days such knives were state of the art, but having said all that this one does appear to be buffed, but some Stone collectors might disagree. (rtt vi009) Minimum bid $70.00

Stone maroon micarta handled folder, numbered 03, sliplock, dovetailed on all 4 bolsters, 3 7/8" closed, 7" open, nickel silver bolsters that are coated with green grunge from long time storage in a sheath. Very early Stone and leaning toward the crude side. appears to have been cleaned to near mint. Will take buffing to get it back to mint but should return to that. Lot 37 William Henry button lock with gold etched blade and gold colored pins and thumbstud, grooved metal handles, unused and mint except for two unexplained messed up spots on the back where looks like the knife has been hit with a hammer or slipped in a drill press. My only thought is that someone didn't know how to press the button to unlock and and was monkeying around with it trying to get it to work and damaged it. Action is smooth and does lock. Lot 81 Sherwood, Camillus, NY pearl shadow whittler with fancy worked back, long pull with bar shield, all blades long pull. Cleaned to vg/exc, 3 1/4" closed. Charles Sherwood along with a partner Denton Bingham (both former Sheffield cutlers) opened their first factory in Camillus, and would at one point make knives on contract for Robeson before giving way to what became Camillus Cutlery. The orange blossom pattern was invented by New York Knife Co. and so named by NYK's owner, a Civil War Medal of Honor winner in the 124th NY infantry, from Orange County, NY (Walden), and they called themselves the Orange Blossoms. exc. Lot 90 Art Wiman handmade ivory micarta handled 4" barlow with brass bolsters, lockback. mint and crude, but Pappy Wiman always made his knives that way. Rough filework on the locking bar. Longtime Knifemakers' Guild member, he would sell hunters for $40.00 when those around him were selling theirs in the hundreds. He once told me, "I sell my knives cheaper, and I use the same materials they use, I just don't take as long to finish my knives as they do." That worked for him, but do not expect Jess Horn quality when bidding on this one. It is a good honest example of Pappy Wiman's work. (rdm vi095) Minimum bid $40.00
