Lot 5 Al Pendray micarta handled hunter. Al was an ABS Mastersmith, former President of the Knifemakers' Guild, and one of the rediscoverers of wootz Damascus--so significant a discovery that it was the subject of an extensive article in "Scientific American" magazine. Al's logo of a horseshoe around the "P" is because he was primarily a top farrier who shoed many legendary horses, including Kentucky Derby winners. Lot 49 W. T. Fuller, Gadsden, AL One-hander lockback folder with wood handles. W.T. lost one hand in an industrial accident, and Sid Latham once said of him that he made a better knife with one hand than many makers made with two. Front lock, dovetailed bolsters, 3 3/4" oal, 7" blade. Fuller and Harvey McBurnette revived the front lock and were the inspiration for Al Mar's first ivory micarta line that featured the front lock.
